To monitor regular statistical production within the scope of monetary and financial statistics and the mechanisms underlying their release;
To monitor changes at the level of the systems for the production of monetary and financial statistics of the Eurosystem and Banco de Portugal, with a view to obtaining contributions regarding methodological developments and new information needs;
To promote cooperation and collaboration among entities producing statistics, especially as regards developing the interchange of background information and eliminating overlapping requirements in different statistical operations, with a view to easing the reporting burden on surveyed entities;
To collaborate in maintaining and improving the lists of entities for statistical purposes relating to the financial and general government sector, assessing them on a periodical basis;
To monitor the results achieved in other fora of the Statistical Council with an effect on the production of monetary and financial statistics;
To monitor possible changes in «concepts for statistical purposes» in the area of monetary and financial statistics, which have already been approved by the specialised Section;
To monitor participation and works carried on in the “Committee for Monetary and Financial and Balance of Payments Statistics” in the monetary and financial fields.
