> Powers

To monitor the system for the collection, treatment and release of statistical information on intra-Community trade – «INTRASTAT system» – namely the development of works carried out by the Eurostat Committee for the intra-Community trade area;
To monitor the system for the collection, treatment and release of statistical information on international trade;
To promote the critical and systematic monitoring of the methodological process for the estimation of final results for intra-Community trade;
To promote the critical and systematic monitoring of the methodological process for the estimation of unit value indices;
To analyse balance of payments statistics and methodologies, namely their coordination with the national accounts system and other specialised statistics, in particular international trade, transports, tourism, etc;
To monitor works carried on at Community level within the scope of the Committee on Monetary, Financial and Balance of Payments Statistics, at the balance of payments level, in particular those promoting harmonisation and reconciliation of international trade, balance of payments and national accounts statistics;
To monitor possible changes in the «concepts for statistical purposes» in the field of international trade statistics already approved by the specialised Section;
To monitor the implementation and revision of the nomenclatures approved in this statistical area.
