CSE-Logo   Ad-Hoc Section for the revision of the Law governing the National Statistical System
 
 
>  Powers:
 

a) Present a Programme and Timetable for the work of preparing the revision of the SEN Law, by 14 November 2025, for approval by the members of the CSE by written procedure.
b) To present to the Plenary at its meeting in July 2026 a proposal to amend the draft legislation revising the Law on the National Statistical System, approved on 30 January 2017 (45th deliberation of the CSE), which includes, among other relevant aspects, alignment with::
 i. Amendments to Regulation (EU) 223/2009 on European Statistics
 ii. National and European data strategies and others related to data ecosystems
 iii. Recommendations from the 2022 Peer Review exercise, in the context of the implementation by the Statistical Authorities of the European Statistics Code of Practice
 iv. Updating the provisions on personal data protection matters




 
>  Composition:
 

a) A core group with the following representatives:
   • Statistics Portugal, in liaison with entities with delegated powers
   • Banco de Portugal
   • Portuguese Data Protection Authority
   • General Confederation of Portuguese Workers
   • A representative of the Business Confederations (to be appointed by agreement between the organizations represented on the Statistical Council)
   • Presidency of the Council of Ministers
   • Directorate-General for Justice Policy
   • Person of recognized reputation, scientific meriy and independence, appointed by INE
 
b) For matters related to the Autonomous Regions:
  • Regional Statistical Office of the Azores
  • Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira


c) For specific matters following a decision by the Section:
  • Other related members


d) Entities or persons invited by the Section to collaborate in the preparation of draft legislation.
