2008 was particularly relevant for the National Statistical System (NSS) due to the publication of the new NSS Law – Law Noº 22/2008 of 13 May.

Following the publication of this new Law governing the National Statistical System (which replace Law 6/89 of 15 April) and the dynamics it is expected to bring to the functioning of the System, the Statistical Council decided to start regularly disseminating the most relevant activities it develops, so us to step up its interaction with society.

The media will therefore receive information on:

·         Annual Reports of the Statistical Council (annual basis)

·         Business Plans of the Statistical Council (annual basis)

·         General Guidelines of National Statistical Activity

·         Other documents the Council deems relevant, on a case-by-case basis
